PTA!

9.30 am on Saturday

Scene: C rushing (read that cursingly getting ready!) to get to work. Who likes working on weekends! We need to make it to the Parents teachers meeting before he makes a dash to the office.

Me in my unbathed best soaked in my just-out-of-bed look. I have never loved Deodorants more… The only way I could make my presence bearable at the school I guess. Both of us in a frantic rush to make it to make it in time (well 15 mins late!)

Reactions at School

Well-dressed parents and hep-looking moms and here I am at my nasty best! I did get some ‘well, I understand’ kinda looks. Its time to meet R’s class teacher now…

A whole bunch of activity books are piled up in front of us to see what our Coochie-poo has been doing. They are full of happy butterflies, bright crescent moons, colorful post boxes, and happy fish.

Teacher begins, clearing her throat; R is very enthusiastic and inquisitive child. He excels at number work and his terribly honest. A smile erupts on my lips; I say silent prayer, Thanks God he hasn’t taken after me for both! Errr.. I mean I was bad at Math, and hence had to be selectively honest in sharing my Unit test scores at home. J

Headmistress joins us, he floods us with questions, and he now wants to know, “How fish swim?” We are getting a live fish to explain to him the parts – the fin and the gills!

C’s face brightens for the first time in the day! Proud parents we walk out of the school. PTAs were traumatic events for me as a child. Hopefully this is the way PTAs would be for me as a parent!

Note – Thanks Amma and Appa for all your patience and the difficult PTAs I must have put you through!
