In loving memory of …

My fire-flower tree

My bedroom window overlooks the garden, of which my favourite is the tree I fondly refer to as the tree with fire-flowers. I begin my day every single morning relishing the green relief the tree provides. The fire-flower tree was so much a family thing that my baby was particular to finish his daily dose of milk on the bedroom sill looking at the tree, its flowers, and the birds, particularly this yellow-green bird (I am bad at identifying most life species except humans).

Back from my holiday, I had my coochie-poo drag me near the window sill to show me something that took me a little while to stomach. Our tree with the fire-flowers was gone… all that was left was the uprooted trunk…lying lifeless…

Now our tea times will never be the same again… and I need to think of new ways to get my baby gulp his milk.

I know what this feels like - my chaddibuddy and i had one such tree on our street. Earth-altering conversations that began the moment we got off the school bus were completed under the shade of that tree. till one day the big fellow above ur heads was just not there. But we never quite gave up on what was left of it. More on thsi o my blog :o) must thank you for this rewind !!
